Entertainment Education

For the course entertainment education that takes into account entertainment as well as conveying an important health message, we have created an interactive video that raises awareness about the importance of wearing a helmet when bicycling.

Animated Narration

For the course Animated Narration, a friend of mine and me have made a video that tells a little story. We paid special attention to the story as this was one important factor of our course guidelines. During the first weeks we made several storyboards for our potential ideas, which highlighted the importance of storyboards in order to discuss the movie properly with other people. The course gave us a nice freedom and I learned new things what to look out for when making a video, storyboard wise but also in order to have a nice coherent ambience.

Here is a link to the movie! Have a Look!

InterAd

For the course Ambient Screens my group and I developed a concept for interactive advertisement.

The installation represents one kind of advertisement of this new kind of advertising but there are 10 more examples that have been worked out as well to show the many-sideness. Through the help of two projectors mounted above the ground, facing the floor, a screen is being projected on the floor. Interaction comes in with movement sensors that recognize users on the screen. In this particular case a made up washing powder brand logo is behind projected dirt that can be removed by the user by walking over the screen.

                                                                                            InterAd Movie

In this project I learned again how important it is to do user evaluations as there are always things that the creator overlook but they can be the simplest things that can easily be changed. So getting someone else's opinion can be very helpful. I am very satisfied with the result of our project but it should be further explored to maybe actually change the concepts of todays advertisements.

Creative Toy Story

New Media

The second course for New Media this year that I have accomplished was 3d Modelling. So basically working with Blender. First of all we had to create a character with Blender that has a simple walking animation.

The face of the character has been mapped onto the models face and the more often you have done this
the better the result looks like. The first tries were hard but after a while my group member and I started to like our model and it became easier to work on it.

The final assignment of the course was to create a 3d model movie. As we have seen what others have modelled for their walking animation we thought of things how we could compete with them. So we thought of 3d tracking where we record a movie and import our 3d model that can interact with the things in the movie.
Looking back I am happy we accomplished our video in that way as it gave us an advantage over the other 3d models as we made up our maybe not as great looking model with a creative idea.

Sound Engineering (Colour of Music)

The studies have started again and now I have finished the first quartile. There were some new courses that we had to participate in. My favourite one was definitely Sound Engineering!
We had several assignments throughout the course in order to get a better feeling with music in all kind of situations. The final assignment was to take a video without(or very little sound) and do the foley effects on it. Than means recording all the noises that you would think you should be able to hear when watching the movie. For example foot steps. Since my roommate has quite a nice camera, we thought that we should make our own movie and add the foley effects to it afterwards.

Have a look and do not forget to press the 1080p button on the video!

Free Time

In the beginning of this quartile we had a weekend with barely anything to do so we thought we should make a video. It is quite random, but a lot of fun!

 Enjoy!

Have fun and Play

The Lemon group, including me, has created the installation “The Voice of Chaos”. The main message behind this installation is that connections in all kind of ways can be helpful and good to have but as soon as there are too many connections made, it can create chaos and confusion. The message also includes that people can be similar but when too many connections are made, individualism gets lost, which is often a negative thing.
This message is conveyed to the participant/spectator by allowing the participants to turn a wheel that will let a glowing orb appear on the screen, if another participant turns at the same speed as the other one, a very appealing connection is made between the orbs. The user and spectator will hear people talk. The more people turn at the same speed, the more connections are made and this will result in more people talking. The user will understand them less and less the more connections are made, which will give the effect of chaos. Furthermore when all 6 orbs are connected to each other, they will all turn white, this conveys the part of the message that is about the of the loss of individualism, as all the orbs will look the same.

Picture will come soon.
